Merry Christmas, everyone! I’ve been doing a lot of reflection this holiday season. A lot has happened this year; it seems like more of a blur than ever before…but when I first conceived the idea of “The Healthy Rainbow” about nine months ago, I never envisioned it would go like this. So, I’d really like to share this year in review with you, my reader.
I would never have imagined this spring that The Healthy Rainbow would get off to such a great start! I started attending the Intstitute for Integrative Nutrition back in March with the idea that I would like to help others learn how to improve their health. I began my own healthy journey a couple of years ago when I realized that my health was not as it should be. I needed to lose about 40 pounds, develop stamina, regain energy, and become stronger. At that time, I was literally a ticking time bomb. I suffered from chronic pain, weakness, signs of adrenal fatigue and constant exhaustion. I barely had the energy to get out of bed in the morning, and when I did get up, I counted the hours until I could go back to bed.
When my daughter, who was ten at the time, wanted to start attending a local fitness studio for a kid’s Zumba class, I never thought that I would begin my fitness journey there. They were beginning a new weight loss program, and it incorporated healthy eating with lots of exercise. I decided to give it a try. I can tell you, it was the hardest step I have ever taken; I was scared to death, sure I would not be able to get through a class. But I made it…and the rest, as they say, is history. Over the next two years I lost 33 pounds and decided that I didn’t need to lose 40 because I felt great! I started with their diet plan, but over time I have modified that “diet” into a total food makeover, and continue to learn about what works for my body and what does not. Now I don’t worry about the scale; I gauge myself by how I’m feeling and how my clothes fit. I’ve learned that total health is what’s important, not a bunch of numbers on the scale. During this time, I’ve developed a passion for healthy eating, good cooking, and charmed living that I really want to share with everyone I know. Feeling great is not hard, but it does take committment and desire to change the status quo – to step outside of that box. Enter The Healthy Rainbow…
The Healthy Rainbow is my new baby that is becoming more and more of who I am everyday. It was born not too long after I started attending school. Everything that I put into this venture comes from the very heart and soul of me, and I love watching it grow and blossom. I’m still amazed that the starting point was just a Facebook page called The Healthy Rainbow where I shared healthy tips and recipes. I continue to share a ton of information on my page, and am thrilled to have a community of over 760 fans! We are growing! I love sharing what I’ve learned with everyone. I’ve also developed several groups for special projects, like a monthly 30-day fitness challenge group, and a group that deals with stress. Most recently, I’ve launched my website, and am getting ready to do some live workshops. I’m coaching clients in my 6-month individual program, and look forward to reaching out to an even greater population.
2014 is limitless! I am developing tons of new workshops and programs for my clientelle and this year promises to be even bigger and better than last! This is my year of new beginnings. I am so excited for what this year holds and I just cannot wait to share it with all of you! I hope you will continue to follow along with me as the best is yet to come. Stay tuned, and stay healthy….
With much love and light….Lisa from The Healthy Rainbow
